The man who was in two meetings at once

He nodded through both. He was recognized in neither.

He has one laptop, one tablet, and a level of confidence usually reserved for surgeons. Two meetings, same slot, and he attends both, muted in one and nodding in the other, alternating like a man conducting an orchestra of things he does not care about. It works for thirty-five minutes. It stops working when someone in meeting one asks him a direct question and he answers it correctly, but about meeting two. There is a beautiful, complete pause. He says he will follow up in writing. He does not follow up in writing. Both meetings now have a recurring pre-read, which everyone agrees is his fault, and which he has never once opened.
