The exit interview where she read from a list
She had notes. Laminated notes.
She has been here six years and she has been writing this down for two of them. The HR person opens with the usual question about what could have gone better, expecting a shrug, and instead she takes out a page. It is organized. There are dates. There is a section for things that were promised in rooms with no witnesses. Halfway down, the HR person stops taking notes and just listens, which is the most anyone has listened to her in a while. At the end she says she is not angry, and the strange part is that she means it. She leaves the page behind on purpose. It is still, apparently, somewhere in a drawer.
