The off-site trust fall that ended a friendship
He fell. She checked her phone. Everyone saw.
The facilitator says the trust fall is a metaphor. It is not a metaphor when it is happening. He goes up on the low platform and calls out the line he is supposed to call out, and behind him his closest work friend is looking at a notification. He lands on one shoulder and the sound is worse than the fall. Everyone claps anyway because the facilitator claps. In the debrief circle she says she trusts him completely. He says nothing, which is louder. They still work together. They are polite in a way that makes other people leave the room. At the next off-site there is a cooking activity instead, and nobody is told why.
